One Hit Wonder of 2000 - 2010

So I have Yahoo as my startup page in my browser.  No real reason, just always have.  One of the things I like about it is the "Today's Highlights" section.  This shows about 6 top stories or something another.  Today they had Tiger Wood's mother in law being taken to the emergency room, Jennifer Hudson being cast as Nelson Mandela's wife in a movie and some other junk.

The article that caught my eye concerned the "One Hit Wonder Of The Decade."  This lovely title was bestowed upon Daniel Powter for his 2006 hit (and I am using that term loosely) "Bad Day."  The industry leading publication BILLBOARD shows the song was Number One for 5 Weeks  in 2006.  Must have been a bad month.  Obviously, I am not a fan of the song.  My daughter (who was 5 at the time) loved it, so I guess that stands for something.

The article also lists what lost to the one hit wonder loser... Number Two went to  Terror Squad for Lean Back, Number Three is "Butterfly" by Crazy Town (whose singer ended up appearing in "Celebrity Rehab), Number Four is Mims and "This Is Why I'm Hot," and finally, Number Five was D4L with "Laffy Taffy."  I can happily say I can hum only one of these songs (Crazy Town's "Butterfly") and only because it was beaten into my skull by the radio stations.

I do find it interesting that all of the last four songs are rap based.  I have NOTHING against rap at all.  I like some of it (Jay-Z, Eminem, Dr. Dre, some Tupac) and have it on my iPod.  But I wonder if there is a correlation here.  Do the one hit rappers just look for the one hit and back out?  Is one song all they have in them?  Just a side discussion topic...

If you can't remember the song, or want to torture your ears, go ahead and click the links:
